K-pop girl group SECRET officially returns to the music scene after nearly 12 years, marking a major comeback that has thrilled and surprised longtime fans.
According to RBW on June 4, SECRET will promote itself as a three-member group with original members Jun Hyo Seong and Jung Ha Na, along with a new member added.
The announcement confirms the group’s first official activity since their 2014 mini album SECRET Summer. However, the meeting will not include the full original training. Former member Han Sun Hwa, who left in 2016 to focus on acting, will not be joining the comeback, AllKPop reported.
Song Ji Eun, widely known as the lead singer of the group, is also absent as she has been focusing on her married life.
The missing members sparked strong reactions online, especially since Song Ji Eun played a key role in the group’s vocal identity.
Some fans have expressed disappointment, questioning the direction of the return. Comments included concerns about the lineup change and the addition of a new member instead of a full original reunion.
SECRET reactivates social media
At the same time, other fans welcomed the group’s return after such a long hiatus, saying that they were simply happy to see SECRET active again in any form. Some pointed out that K-pop groups often evolve over time and were curious about the new direction the trio will take.
SECRET originally debuted in 2009 and became popular during the second generation of K-pop with hit songs such as “Magic”, “Madonna” and “Starlight Moonlight”. The group has built a strong fan base with their catchy sound and distinct performance style, making their comeback a notable moment in K-pop nostalgia.
According to KPopHit, before the official news of their comeback, SECRET also reactivated their social media accounts on June 3 on platforms such as YouTube, X, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
Their first upload featured Jun Hyo Seong and Jung Ha Na revisiting a salon they used early in their career, even recreating their iconic “Shy Boy” era looks.
