NMIXX member Lily is receiving praise online after fans spotted her stepping in to correct a potentially misleading translation during a recent interview.
A short clip of the interview recently spread across social media platforms, with many viewers applauding Lily’s quick reaction and attention to detail.
During the conversation, colleague Haewon reflected on her days as an intern and described herself as one “very individualistic” at the moment.
However, the translator interpreted his comment differently, saying that Haewon thought “a little selfish” during his internship years.
The moment immediately caught Lily’s attention. Looking visibly surprised, she quickly interrupted and corrected the wording by pointing out what Haewon meant to say “individualist”, Not “selfish.”
Fans later pointed out that the mistranslation significantly changed the nuance of Haewon’s statement and could have easily sparked unnecessary criticism or misunderstanding online.
Many netizens praised Lily for listening carefully during the interview and intervening before the situation escalated. Some fans commented that the error shows how important an accurate translation is, especially for idols who are constantly under public scrutiny.
