A new Korean drama is taking social media by storm thanks to unexpectedly beautiful images of its male and female leads.
THE “girl disguised as a boy” The trope was once a signature formula of classic K-Dramas, producing countless iconic hits. Although the concept has become less common in recent years, many fans still love the genre for its mix of comedy, tension, and forbidden chemistry, especially the moments where the male protagonist unknowingly falls in love with someone who is hiding his true identity. For this reason, the moment tvN announced Love in disguisethe series immediately attracted great attention and was soon predicted to become one of the biggest K-Dramas of the second half of 2026.
The upcoming drama is based on the popular web novel and webtoon Why don’t you know she’s a woman? and follows Yoon Yi Jun, played by Im Si Wan. He is the cold and flawless third-generation heir of the Taegang conglomerate, known for his perfect image and intimidating personality. Behind that refined exterior, however, lie a series of suspicious secrets after he becomes the prime suspect in a mysterious murder case and comes under close police surveillance.
Opposite him is Kang Jae Hee, played by Seol In Ah, a former special forces officer assigned to secretly investigate Yi Jun. To infiltrate the dangerous world surrounding the chaebol heiress, she disguises herself as a man and becomes both his secretary and his personal bodyguard. From there, chaotic and emotionally charged situations begin to unfold as the line between investigation and genuine feelings slowly disappears.
Beyond his criminal plot, Love in disguise is already making waves for its combination of popular clichés: protagonists who stay together 24/7, the suspect-versus-detective dynamic, and a romance built on suspicion, secrets, and danger. With its blend of thriller elements and romantic tension, the drama has quickly become one of the most anticipated series among K-Drama fans.
As soon as the first promotional images were released, social media exploded with reactions, particularly over the images of the main cast. While Im Si Wan perfectly embodies the cold, dangerous and charismatic chaebol archetype, it was Seol In Ah who completely stole the spotlight with her convincing masculine disguise.
In the drama, Im Si Wan appears with classic chaebol style: loosely parted hair that frames her pale features, sharp visuals and sleek cuts that give off an easily intimidating aura. Wearing a deep wine red velvet suit paired with a black shirt, he radiates the energy of a mysterious “red flag” character viewers can’t resist.
However, many fans believe that Seol In Ah outshined everyone in the newly released photos. With short hair, black-rimmed glasses and delicate but boyish facial features, the actress has been praised for looking like a real male webtoon protagonist.
