On June 5, Lee Yoo Bi uploaded a Q&A video to her YouTube channel, in which she answered fans’ questions while enjoying a meal she prepared herself. When asked about memorable shooting stories from The escape of the seventhe actress revealed an unexpected incident that occurred during the first shoot on Jeju Island.
According to Lee Yoo Bi, the scene required her character to experience hallucinations and behave erratically in a dark cactus field. Because the production required a nighttime atmosphere, lighting was limited, making visibility poor.
He recalled that staff members had repeatedly warned the cast to be careful around the cacti, explaining that the tiny thorns could get stuck in the skin and be difficult to remove. However, during a scene where he had to fall backwards, Lee Yoo Bi accidentally landed on a cactus. “There was a cactus right behind me. About 200 cactus spines got stuck in my butt. Not in my arms or legs, in my butt,” he said.
After the incident, Lee Yoo Bi and her stylist moved to a secluded area to remove the thorns. As filming had to continue, he repeatedly alternated between reshooting scenes and returning to remove more thorns. While trying to speed up the process, he experienced another embarrassing moment. “I pulled down my trousers to quickly remove the thorns and suddenly I heard someone gasp. A staff member was standing behind me. It was so dark I couldn’t see them and I accidentally exposed myself in front of them.” he recalled.
The actress said she immediately apologized to the staff member and continued filming throughout the night while repeatedly removing the cactus’s thorns.
Although painful at the time, Lee Yoo Bi looked back on the incident as one of many unforgettable stories from the drama’s two-year production.
