Actor Kang Dong Won is once again attracting attention as he promotes his upcoming film “Wild Song”, this time because of a funny viral post supposedly written by one of his former college friends.
Recently, a post titled “Explanation Regarding Kang Dong Won’s College Classmate Exposure Controversy” surfaced on an online community forum. The post included an old photo of Kang Dong Won in his early 20s posing with friends.
What particularly caught attention was a highly upvoted comment that read: “I am Kang Dong Won’s college classmate. During the school festival, Kang Dong Won prepared snacks at the food stand of the mechanical engineering department, and all the stands of other departments went out of business. He is a very bad person.”
Even if framed as a “expose,” the story quickly became seen as more of a humorous compliment than a real controversy.
Kang Dong Won then addressed the viral post himself during an appearance on his YouTube channel “Monotube”. After reading the comment, he explained that the story wasn’t exactly true.
He shared, “I also saw this post, but it wasn’t really like that. I mostly brought food and alcohol with me. At the time, first-year students were supposed to help out, so I worked hard. I don’t remember everything clearly, but I only remember carrying things around and then drinking with the seniors.”
His relaxed response amused viewers even more. As for the claim of causing trouble for nearby booths, Kang Dong Won jokingly added, “I’ve never visited the other departments, so I don’t know. I don’t think I caused any problems… but who knows?”
The actor also reacted to another online comment from a fan who wrote, “I will work hard, get rich and invest 10 billion KRW in your films.” Kang Dong Won looked surprised as he read the message aloud.
He jokingly replied, “Thank you very much. If you invest, I will work hard so that you can make a lot of profits.” His witty response once again brought laughter from fans.

Speaking about his future projects, Kang Dong Won shared that he hopes to continue appearing in quality films. He reflected, “While working as an actor, there were times when I thought: ‘I’m already over 40, maybe it’s all over.’ But looking back, I met a lot of different people and gained a lot of experiences.
He continued, “I’m grateful for all these experiences and I want to spend my 40s the same way. If I want to continue working hard in the future, I think I should start taking better care of my health too.”

Meanwhile, Kang Dong Won’s upcoming comedy film “Wild Song” tells the story of a once popular mixed dance group called Triangle who suddenly disbanded after being involved in an unexpected accident. Twenty years later, the former members reunite for one last reckless attempt at a comeback.
The film co-stars Uhm Tae Goo and Park Ji Hyun and is scheduled to premiere on June 3.
