Famous singer suffers concussion after fan throws phone on stage

Bring Me The Horizon singer Oli Sykes has suffered an injury after being hit by a mobile phone thrown from the audience during a concert.

The accident occurred during the band’s concert in St. Louis on May 11 (local time) while the group was performing their song “Happy song.” Suddenly a cell phone flew out of the crowd and hit Sykes on the left side of the head.

Videos captured on location showed the singer visibly shocked after finishing the song as he asked the audience, “Who the hell threw a phone at my head?” He later handed the phone over to security personnel. During the show, Sykes was also seen rubbing his head in pain and taking a short break on stage.

The next day, Sykes updated fans on his condition via his personal account. He revealed that he visited the hospital after feeling mild concussion symptoms from the impact. “I was hit by a phone and had mild concussion symptoms, so I went to the hospital,” he shared. “My head was swollen and hurt, but luckily the swelling went down a lot, so I’m fine now.” He also apologized to fans for not being able to fully finish the show in St. Louis as planned. “Immediately after the accident I completely lost my sense of direction, so I regret that I couldn’t finish the concert properly,” he admitted.

Fortunately, Sykes confirmed that the injury will not affect his current tour schedule. Bring Me The Horizon continued with their concert in Kansas City on May 12 as originally scheduled.

At this time, officials at the Enterprise Center, where the concert took place, have not identified the individual who threw the phone.

According to the venue’s code of conduct, throwing objects onto the stage is strictly prohibited. Members of the public caught doing so may be removed from the venue immediately without refund and may even be arrested depending on the severity of the incident.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that singers have been injured by objects thrown onto the stage. Earlier this year, country singer Riley Green was left bleeding after being hit by a thrown cellphone. In the past, stars such as Bebe Rexha, Harry Styles and Drake have also suffered injuries after being hit by objects during performances.
