The 2025 MBC Drama Awards took place on December 30 at the MBC Media Center Public Hall in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, with Kim Sung Joo and Lee Sun Bin as hosts. Lee Se Young received the Best Actress award for her performance in MotelCalifornia.
Taking the stage, Lee Se Young was visibly emotional as she said: “Just being told I’m the best actress is something I’m deeply grateful for,” holding back tears. She went on to candidly share her long-standing insecurities as an actress, admitting that she often worries about whether she actually deserves to confidently maintain her profession.
She went on to reflect on what acting has taught her, saying that through her projects she realized how much she genuinely loves her co-stars, staff members and the atmosphere on set. Lee Se Young added that being able to make a living as an actress has brought her great happiness and that her level of job satisfaction is at its highest.
After initially walking away from the microphone, Lee Se Young stood up in front of the microphone again, hesitating briefly before speaking again. Apologizing for the interruption, she revealed she had been too nervous to say it before. He then unexpectedly expressed his affection for his former agency boss, saying: “I recently changed agencies, but to the CEO who worked with me and took care of me for almost 10 years, I love you so much.”
Lee Se Young previously parted ways with PrainTPC in September after working together for 11 years and subsequently signed an exclusive contract with Fantagio. His heartfelt words of gratitude towards his former agency added a touching and memorable moment to the evening, with strong resonance among both viewers and other industry professionals.
