Singer Kim Jong Kook attracted attention after confessing what he described as “addiction symptoms” during a television appearance, leading to an unexpected conclusion. The revelation came during the upcoming Christmas special episode of KBS’ Problem Child in House, which will air on December 25, and will feature child and adolescent psychiatry specialist Dr. Kim Bung Nyeon as a guest.
During the broadcast, Dr. Kim energized the practice with engaging discussions on mental health and practical insights. At one point, Kim Jong Kook cautiously asked, “Doctor, does exercise addiction count as a true addiction?” eliciting laughter from everyone present. Contrary to expectations, Dr. Kim responded, “Exercise addiction is not considered an addiction,” and went on to explain the reasoning behind his response.
Yang Se Chan also shared his concerns, recalling a common phrase written in students’ report cards during childhood: “He gets along well with peers but is easily distracted.” He admitted that this description followed him throughout his school years and wondered aloud whether it had been an early sign of ADHD. Yang added that even now, when he does housework, he finds himself jumping from one task to another without finishing it properly, expressing concern about possible ADHD in adulthood. Dr. Kim’s response reportedly provided a surprising diagnosis that left the studio in shock, further increasing viewers’ curiosity.

Kim Jong Kook has long been known for his intense dedication to exercise. Earlier this year, in January, she uploaded a video documenting her health checkup, during which she candidly admitted, “I don’t even know if exercise is actually healthy for me anymore.” She shocked viewers by revealing that after undergoing hernia surgery, she resumed training at home just two days later.
Debuting in 1995 as part of the two-member group Turbo, Kim Jong Kook has enjoyed a long and successful career as both a singer and an entertainer. He currently appears on popular variety shows such as Running Man and My Little Old Boy, while also running his personal YouTube channel Gym Jong Kook. Last September he married a non-celebrity in a Seoul hotel, marking a new chapter in his life just three months before his candid on-air confession about his so-called “addiction.”
