SEVENTEEN member Vernon is giving fans one of his most personal projects with the release of his solo song “MIA,” accompanied by a touching official film that tells the story of his life from childhood to becoming a global artist.
On July 8, SEVENTEEN’s unit V8, consisting of Vernon and THE 8, released the official film of “MIA” via its social media platforms. The song is part of the duo’s first mini album and highlights Vernon’s personal journey through an emotional coming-of-age story.
The film begins with the warm voices of Vernon’s parents calling him by his Korean name, Hansol, AllKPop reported. It then follows his early years, showing moments from his childhood, including playful memories and his growing curiosity about the world around him.
The nostalgic scenes are paired with brilliant music that reflects the innocence and joy of those years.
As the story continues, the film shifts to Vernon’s life after debuting as a member of SEVENTEEN. It shows how the cheerful child gradually became a mature artist who takes on more responsibilities while continuing to chase his dreams.
SEVENTEEN’s Vernon shares his story
The visual narrative works closely with the song’s heartfelt lyrics, creating an honest look at his growth as both an artist and a person.
The coming-of-age film also reflects something Vernon has shared many times with fans: that his greatest inspiration comes from SEVENTEEN and the group’s fandom, CARAT. This message silently runs through the video, making the project even more meaningful to longtime supporters.
According to ChosunBiz, “MIA” was created with the help of an experienced production team that includes Korea Music Awards winner Kirara, producer Han Jung In, and longtime collaborator Robb Roy.
Built around an energetic lead melody and powerful beats, the song combines an uplifting sound with lyrics that reveal Vernon’s genuine thoughts, personal struggles and self-discovery.
The emotional approach has already gained international attention. Vogue Singapore praised the track, describing it as “one with a unique sense of depth, offering listeners a glimpse into Vernon’s candid inner world”.
Following the release of “MIA”, Vernon and THE 8 will continue to promote themselves as V8 through their upcoming 2026 VERNON THE 8 [V8] Live concerts. Performances will begin on July 11 and 12 at KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Goyang before continuing to Hong Kong later in the month.
