TVXQ’s Yunho changes Seoul concert venue due to ongoing protests against Jamsil

TVXQ member U-Know Yunho has changed the venue of his upcoming solo concert to Seoul after long-standing protests near the original venue made it difficult to hold the event as planned.

On July 7, SM Entertainment announced via Weverse that “Yunho Project 26: SCENE#1 in SEOUL” will no longer be held at Ticketlink Live Arena, formerly known as Handball Stadium, in Seoul Olympic Park.

The three-day concert, from July 17 to 19, will take place at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium.

The agency explained that the change of location was necessary because the original site was affected by an ongoing protest against “polling station blocking” that has lasted for more than a month.

The demonstrations began after complaints about a shortage of ballot papers during local elections on June 3, which made it increasingly difficult to access the concert venue.

According to AllKPop, SM Entertainment apologized for informing fans later than expected, saying, “We apologize for the delayed announcement as we had to go through the venue rental approval process. We hope this change does not cause confusion for attendees.”

The emergency venue change comes just 10 days before Yunho’s concert, highlighting how ongoing protests have disrupted large public events in the area.

While unexpected, the move was made to ensure fans can safely attend shows without major disruptions.

The new venue will also allow more fans to attend. While the Ticketlink Live Arena can seat about 5,000 people, the Jamsil Indoor Stadium has a capacity of about 10,000, nearly doubling the number of seats available, SportsChosun reported.

Since the seating arrangements at the two venues are different, SM Entertainment confirmed that ticket holders will retain existing reservations, but seats will be reassigned.

The agency said it will not open a new ticket booking process to reduce confusion. However, it was also noted that it may not be possible to match the exact location of the seats to the original location.

Fans who decide not to attend the concert at the new venue will be able to cancel their tickets by 5pm on July 15 and receive a full refund with no penalty.

Yunho’s concert is not the first event affected by the ongoing demonstrations.

Previously, Nexon moved its MapleStory storefront to KINTEX in Ilsan, while HYBE adjusted operations for Weverse Con due to the same situation.

Despite the sudden change of venue, Yunho continues to prepare for a big month. In addition to launching his first solo concert tour, he is also scheduled to release his new song, “Time’s Tickin’,” on July 20.
