Veteran South Korean actress Youn Yuh Jung earned a nomination at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards for her performance in the Netflix film Beef The second season adds another milestone to his celebrated career.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) announced this year’s nominees on July 9 (KST), with the second season of “Beef” garnering a total of 16 nominations across multiple categories, AllKPop reported.
Youn received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Film for her role as Chairman Park, a Korean billionaire and country club owner. She will compete against several famous actresses, including Dakota Fanning, Joy Sunday, Constance Zimmer and Linda Cardellini.
The recognition puts Youn one step closer to another historic achievement. In 2021, she became the first Korean performer to win an Academy Award after taking home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Minari.”
If he wins the Emmy, he would become the first Korean actor to win both an Oscar and an Emmy. The second season of “Beef” also did well in this year’s Emmy race.

The Emmy recognition continues the success of the “Beef” franchise. Its first season was one of the biggest winners of previous Primetime Emmy Awards, taking home eight trophies, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Korean-American actor Steven Yeun, and numerous major awards for the series.
Korean stars have made steady progress at the ceremony in recent years, with Squid game director Hwang Dong Hyuk and actor Lee Jung Jae among previous winners. You’s latest nomination adds another proud moment for Korean entertainment on the global stage.
