On July 2, Song Ji Hyo uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel titled “The short hair incident: now we can finally talk about it: my hair, makeup and styling team is reporting me.”
In the video, Song Ji Hyo invited her hairdresser, makeup artist and stylist to share a meal while reminiscing about the memorable moments they had together.
During the conversation, Song Ji Hyo turned to her hairdresser and admitted: “I owe you an apology. I should apologize for cutting my hair,” referring to the haircut that sparked widespread discussion several years ago.
Recalling the incident, her hairdresser said, “I received a text message in the middle of the night saying that she had cut her hair. I honestly thought she was joking. But when she came to my house the next day, her hair was already beyond saving. There was no way to fix it properly. I ended up cutting it further in my bathroom. I was so shocked that I even patted her on the back.”
Song Ji Hyo then revealed what happened after she posted photos of the haircut online. “After I uploaded the photos, I was inundated with criticism. People even called the salon asking, ‘Why did you cut her hair like that?'”
Her hairdresser admitted the negative reaction was overwhelming. “If someone had been emotionally fragile, maybe they wouldn’t have been able to handle the situation. It was so intense. Some people even told me I should pay back my salary. Looking back, it ended up being just another funny story, but it was really difficult at the time.”
Song Ji Hyo revealed her dramatic pixie cut for the first time in 2021, attracting significant attention. However, the hairstyle quickly became the subject of heated debate, with some online users criticizing it as messy and unflattering.
The actress had already addressed the issue during another appearance on YouTube, confessing to having cut her hair impulsively after drinking. “I suddenly got emotional after drinking alcohol,” he said. “I just took a pair of scissors that I usually use to cut toothpaste tubes and cosmetic packaging, and I cut my own hair.”
