Shin Bong Sun honestly shared her concerns about marriage, aging, and preparing for life alone, drawing attention with her realistic and relatable comments about the future.
The comedian recently appeared as a special MC on My Little Old Boy, where she spoke candidly about relationships and retirement planning. During the episode, fellow TV personality Seo Jang Hoon said that Shin Bong Sun’s last relationship was when she was 30 and joked that blind dates seemed to end after she turned 40.
Responding honestly, Shin Bong Sun said that even as a young girl, she was often presented as someone with a “cute but not that cute” image, AllKPop reported.
She added that after she turned 40, even those comments started to feel uncomfortable. She also revealed how her view of herself has changed over time. “I think if I had to categorize myself, I’m not a man or a woman, I just feel like a human being,” he shared.
The 47-year-old entertainer admitted that marriage no longer seems like something that can be forced. “If marriage is something you can do on your own, I would try,” she explained. “But marriage is something you still have to win the heart of another person, and it seemed like a waste of time.”

Shin Bong Sun also revealed that he has already started preparing financially for his future. He shared that a retirement savings plan he paid into for 10 years, starting in his late twenties, recently matured. According to her, she contributed 1 million won every month during that time.
“I’m looking at different things,” he said. “I’m practicing living alone in a fun and enjoyable way.”
The comedian also spoke about the pressure she sometimes feels from people around her, including family.
While talking about his mother, Shin Bong Sun humorously recalled how her advice on marriage has changed over the years. At first, her mother encouraged her to marry someone kind, but later jokingly asked her who could handle her personality. At one point he even suggested freezing eggs, which made Shin Bong Sun laugh because he misunderstood the meaning.
According to The Chosun, outside of the television broadcast, Shin Bong Sun recently discussed similar concerns in a YouTube video with comedian Kim In Seok.
She admitted that meeting new people has become difficult because many around her are younger or already married. She also confessed that some people believe she can’t get married because of her looks.
