IVE’s Jang Won Young once again demonstrated his confidence in the face of online criticism, responding to the recent “arms folded” controversy by posting photos of herself in the pose that sparked the debate. Many fans praised her face criticism head on rather than address it with a long explanationremembering how he similarly handled the so-called “Controversy over airport masks“in the past.
On July 16, Jang uploaded several new photos to her social media account without adding a caption, accompanying the post only with black heart, cat, and paw print emojis.
In the photos, the singer is wearing a casual gray sweatshirt as she looks directly into the camera. What immediately caught fans’ attention, however, was her pose, standing confidently with her arms crossed over her chest.
The pose comes shortly after Jang became the subject of online debate following his appearance at a theme park event. Some Internet users criticized her for briefly crossing her arms, claiming it was reflective a lack of manners or respect. However, many others dismissed the criticism, arguing that crossing one’s arms is a natural habit and that judging someone’s personality or attitude based on such an insignificant gesture was an unreasonable overreaction.

Instead of issuing a statement, Jang seems to have responded in his own way, deliberately sharing photos with the same pose. His approach has been widely interpreted as a confident message that she would not be shaken by what many considered unfounded criticism.
This isn’t the first time the IVE member has approached online controversies with quiet confidence. During the previous “Controversy over airport masks,” Jang attracted attention by showing up at the airport without a mask for his upcoming public program, a move that many saw as his way of shutting down unnecessary criticism without engaging in long explanations.
Despite repeated waves of online scrutiny, Jang Won Young continues to remain true to herself and maintain her composure. Her confidence, resilience, and ability to remain unflappable in the face of unfounded criticism have only strengthened her reputation as one of K-pop’s most prominent and confident idols.
