Former SECRET NUMBER member Denise is earning praise online after candidly sharing an embarrassing behind-the-scenes moment from her idol days, one that many women have found deeply relatable.
During a recent makeup session, Denise talked about an incident that happened while promoting SECRET NUMBER on music shows. According to the idol, the group had just finished performing and, like many busy K-pop groups, had very little sleep.
After completing the stage, members had some free time before returning for the final segment, where the weekly winners are announced. Exhausted from their hectic schedule, Denise said everyone took the opportunity to nap backstage whenever possible.
She recalled being completely passed out on a couch while waiting for the final segment of the broadcast, unaware that the situation was about to get unexpectedly stressful.
What made matters worse was the outfit she was wearing that day: a white skirt. Denise revealed that she was also on her period at the time, something idols often have little control over when it comes to style decisions for performances.
After sleeping for about an hour, Denise got up to get her hair and makeup touched up before returning to the stage. But as she started walking, she noticed her stylist suddenly react with alarm.
At first, Denise thought the stylist was simply being affectionate after he unexpectedly hugged her from behind. A few moments later, however, the stylist calmly suggested that they go to the bathroom together.
That’s when Denise discovered what had happened.
Looking in the mirror, she realized she had bled through her white skirt during her nap. The visible stain immediately sparked panic backstage, especially given the pressure of live television and the limited time before returning to the stage.
According to Denise, her stylist immediately called the head stylist, who immediately took charge as a crisis manager. Instead of completely replacing the dress, the styling team rushed to clean the skirt on the spot using cold water, soap, and even a hairdryer to speed up the drying process.
As stylists worked frantically to save the outfit, Denise said she stood nearby apologizing repeatedly and feeling overwhelmed by the situation.
Fortunately, the emergency rescue mission worked. The stain was removed in time and Denise managed to return to the stage without the spectators noticing anything unusual.
Looking back now, Denise admitted that the situation probably seemed much more dramatic at the time because everyone was extremely sleep-deprived and under pressure. Since SECRET NUMBER was still a rookie band at the time, emotions were particularly strong.
Humorously reflecting on the experience, Denise joked that the stress may not have been entirely necessary, considering that the novice groups were often positioned towards the back during the final stages anyway, meaning most spectators probably wouldn’t have noticed.
Her honest story has since resonated with fans, many of whom have praised the idol for speaking openly about a situation that countless women experience but rarely discuss publicly, especially in the demanding world of K-pop.
