YouTube channel on May 11th “Donghaemul and Baekdu Eunhyuk” uploaded a video titled “‘Did you hang out with Super Junior?!’ Eunhyuk and Boram finally explain their dating rumors that made even SeeYa’s Nam Gyu Ri suspicious.
As soon as SeeYa appeared on the show, Donghae jokingly said, “Before anything else, let’s clarify this first. Many people are curious about Boram and Eunhyuk.”
Eunhyuk looked confused and replied, “Not the curious people – are there really people who still believe this?” Lee Boram also sighed and said, “I’m so tired of these rumors.” The two idols were famously involved in dating speculation in 2007.
Explaining how the rumors started, Lee Boram shared, “Actually nothing happened between us. It was because of him,” while pointing to Eunhyuk. “We were doing something like that Dream concertand all the singers were together on stage. As he passed he gave me a light tap on the head.”
That small interaction reportedly led some people to suspect the two were dating. The broadcast then showed the clip in question. As he left the stage, Eunhyuk could be seen patting Lee Boram on the head as he passed.
After watching the footage, Donghae commented, “It doesn’t seem like something people would do in a relationship. It seems more like, ‘Hey, I’m leaving.'” Eunhyuk agrees, adding, “Honestly, if we were really dating, I probably wouldn’t have acted like this in public.”
Lee Boram also recalled being interrogated by her agency the next day. “They asked me, ‘What kind of relationship do you have with him?’ I told them, “We’re nothing, just friends.” But somehow articles are still being written about it. Journalists kept asking questions, but in reality it wasn’t true,” he explained.
Eunhyuk then reminisced about their old friendship group, saying, “From what I remember, we even started an ’86 Lines’ group with Yeonji. We jokingly called each other ‘Lee Hyuk Jae and the Leftovers,’ so the nickname became ‘Ashtray.'”
He added that the group often hung out together at a playground near their dormitories. “None of us drank alcohol, so we played water gun battles. If we were really dating, photos of moments like that should have come out, but there was never anything,” he joked, making everyone laugh.
The two also revealed that they had lent each other money. Eunhyuk suddenly asked, “Wait, you borrowed money from me too?” causing Lee Boram to protest, “What are you talking about? You were the one who asked me to lend you money!”
She explained that during a mission at a variety show, Eunhyuk called her and asked to borrow 500,000 won. She didn’t even have that amount herself at the time, but she still promised to find the money and help him complete the mission.
Eunhyuk admitted, “Back then, 500,000 won was a huge amount for us.” When Lee Boram asked, “You really didn’t have that money?” Eunhyuk replied, “No, we really didn’t.” Lee Boram then added: “Neither were we. We were so broke at the time that we were even kicked out because we couldn’t afford food.”
