According to multiple music industry sources cited on July 14, TWICE’s Chaeyoung recently had meetings with another entertainment company regarding her individual career.
Details on whether the negotiations will lead to an exclusive contract have not been released and no deal has been confirmed. Industry experts believe the move may reflect Chaeyoung’s desire for more flexibility in developing her solo career.

In addition to writing lyrics and rapping, he has gained recognition for his unique interests in art and fashion, leading many to speculate that he hopes to expand his creative freedom.

Rather than abandoning JYP Entertainment altogether, industry observers believe Chaeyoung may pursue a structure that separates her solo management from the group’s TWICE operations. Under this model, members would sign with different agencies for individual projects while continuing to promote together under JYP as TWICE. The arrangement has become increasingly common among established K-pop groups looking to balance long-term group promotions with expanding solo careers.
Chaeyoung is not the only member linked to outside agencies during the ongoing negotiations. Previously, on July 14, reports stated that Tzuyu had agreed not to renew her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment as she planned to continue participating in the TWICE group’s activities.

Meanwhile, Jeongyeon is said to have met with VARO Entertainment, the agency representing her older sister, actress Gong Seung Yeon. The agency then confirmed the meeting but stressed that no contract had been concluded.
These developments have intensified speculation that more members may follow a similar path by separating their solo and group contracts.

Many industry insiders point to BLACKPINK as a successful example of this arrangement. While BLACKPINK continues their group activities under YG Entertainment, each member now manages their solo careers through a different company. Observers believe TWICE could adopt a similar strategy, allowing members greater freedom to pursue acting, music, fashion and other personal ventures without compromising the group’s future.
JYP Entertainment has not confirmed any individual contract decisions. The agency stated: “TWICE is currently in the contract renewal discussion period. We will provide an update once decisions have been finalized.”
TWICE originally debuted in 2015 and renewed as a full group in 2022. The current negotiations mark the group’s second contract renewal and are being closely followed by fans, as the nine members continue to balance one of K-pop’s biggest global group careers with increasingly active solo projects.
