BTS has reached another historic milestone on YouTube as the music video for their global hit “Dynamite” has officially surpassed 2.1 billion views.
According to Big Hit Music, the music video crossed the milestone around 8 a.m. on June 24. The achievement came just nine months after the video previously hit 2 billion views in September, adding another 100 million views in less than a year.
“Dynamite” is now BTS’s first music video to reach 2.1 billion views and remains the group’s most-viewed release on YouTube.
Released in August 2020, “Dynamite” became a major turning point in BTS’ career, MaeilBusiness reported.
The upbeat disco-pop song was the group’s first entirely English-language single and delivered a bright message of hope in a difficult time around the world. The music video attracted huge attention for its colorful retro style, energetic choreography and catchy melody.
Fans around the world quickly embraced the song, helping it break records on streaming platforms, music charts and award shows.
“Dynamite” also made history on Billboard. The single became the first song by a Korean group to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
BTS’ “Dynamite” still attracts millions of fans around the world
BTS subsequently remained at number one for a total of three weeks. The song also remained on the Hot 100 chart for 32 weeks, marking the longest run on the chart for a K-pop artist at the time.
The success of “Dynamite” extended beyond streaming numbers. The song earned BTS its first Grammy Award nomination and won Best Song at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards.
According to the Korea Times, it also received the best-selling song at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
Even years after its release, the song continues to attract listeners and viewers around the world. Many fans say that “Dynamite” remains one of BTS’ most recognizable songs for its upbeat sound and memorable performance style.
The latest YouTube milestone once again highlights BTS’ enduring global popularity and strong support from ARMY, the group’s global fan base.
