Bora confesses to hiding her “darker” side during the SISTAR days

Former SISTAR member Bora has opened up about a more personal and emotional side to her life, revealing that she once hid what she calls her “darker” emotions during her years as a K-pop idol.

Speaking on the YouTube show “Jo Hyun Ah’s Common Thursday Night” on May 14, Bora shared that her public image as a bright and energetic artist didn’t always reflect how she truly felt inside.

According to Allkpop, while she was active with SISTAR, she was known for her cheerful stage presence, but now she says that was just part of her story.

“I thought I was a naturally brilliant person,” Bora reflects. “That side of me was real too. It wasn’t fake at all. But later I realized that I was actually a darker person than anyone else. I think I hid it by being cheerful.”

Bora also spoke about the difficult period after the dissolution of SISTAR in 2017, when she distanced herself from the life of the agency for about three years.

Bora says she feels guilty for taking a break

He said he chose not to sign with a company during that time as he was focused on his mental health and recovery.

“There was a time when my mental health wasn’t good, but I’m trying to get healthier,” she said, adding that she often felt guilty for resting but needed a break. She explained that the quiet time helped her understand herself better. “It was really hard, but I told myself I had to get through it,” he shared.

Beyond his personal reflection, Bora also spoke about his journey into acting. After SISTAR, she moved on to dramas such as “Doctor Stranger”, “A Korea Odyssey” and “Quiz of God: Reboot”. She gained more recognition for her role as nurse Joo Young-mi in seasons 2 and 3 of “Romantic Doctor, Kim Sa-bu”.

Recently, Bora also made headlines for reuniting with her longtime manager from SISTAR’s peak days by signing a new exclusive contract with The Entertainment, StarNews reported.

The company is led by CEO Kim Gang-hyo, who has worked with it since its debut. The agency described the meeting as “based on deep trust”, highlighting their long professional history.
