South Korean rapper BewhY has made a surprising and deeply personal announcement: the closure of his hip-hop label Dejavu Group, nine years after it was founded.
In a lengthy statement released on May 1, the artist reflected on his decades-long career and candidly admitted failure — an unusually honest move in the K-hip-hop industry.
“However, I will face him now. I have failed.” BewhY did not shirk responsibility. He acknowledged that his decisions in business, relationships and personal beliefs did not go as planned.
“This decision was not made lightly and all responsibility rests entirely with me.”
Founded in 2017, Dejavu Group started as a one-man agency and later expanded by signing talented rappers in 2019, becoming a respected name in the Korean hip-hop scene.
BewhY became famous after winning Show me the money 5where his technical skills and unique style have earned widespread acclaim.
Following his success, he founded the Dejavu Group to pursue creative independence and cultivate new talent. For years, the label has symbolized control and artistic ambition.
Despite the outward success, BewhY revealed that things were not right behind the scenes: business challenges, strained relationships, internal doubts and errors in judgment.
He admitted that he had avoided acknowledging these problems for a long time for fear of facing failure. “I was afraid that the word ‘failure’ would follow me.”
Ultimately, BewhY chose to let go: “I realized my limitations and decided to put aside what I had been holding on to.”
He also expressed gratitude to the artists who have trusted and worked with him, while also apologizing to the fans who have supported the label over the years.
The closure of Dejavu Group does not mark the end of BewhY’s career, but rather a turning point.
His honesty sparked discussion among fans and netizens, with many praising his responsibility and vulnerability. In an industry where blockbuster narratives dominate, his admission stands out.
