Actress responds after ‘Minor’ swimsuit video sparks age debate online

The controversy began when Japanese actress Yura Kana posted a short behind-the-scenes clip on

The footage appeared to show a routine work session. However, after the clip spread beyond her usual audience, some viewers mistook her for a minor due to her youthful face and petite height of 143cm. Several users then directed harsh criticism at people who found her attractive, describing such interest as disturbing or inappropriate.

As criticism grew, Yura released a direct statement in defense of herself and her supporters. “It seems that this has caused a lot of debate abroad,” he wrote. “However, I am a legally adult female, 143cm tall.” She added that there was nothing unusual about adults finding her attractive because, in fact, she is an adult. “If someone sees me as an attractive woman, I think it’s completely normal, because I’m already an adult,” he explained.

Yura also pointed out that women naturally have many different body types. “There are many small people like me in the world” he said. “Whether someone likes or dislikes this body type is a matter of personal preference.” However, she criticized the tendency to label people as dangerous, disgusting or mentally ill simply because they are attracted to an adult woman with a small frame. “I think this kind of labeling is strange,” he wrote. “After all, I’m an adult.”

Her response shifted the discussion to a larger question: whether petite adult women are unfairly infantilized because of their height or youthful appearance. While some users continued to argue about the style of the video, others defended Yura and argued that an adult woman should not be treated like a child simply because she looks younger than her age.
