Ahead of the first Korea Grand Music Awards (2024 KGMA), K-Netz discussed the real reason why HYBE artists were not present at the event except NewJeans.
On November 16 and 17, KGMA, a new music awards ceremony, will be held at Incheon’s Inspire Arena.
This is raising high expectations from fans as the event was hosted by director Han Dong Chul, the so-called “Godfather” of Korean audition shows, such as “Unpretty Rapstar”, “Produce 101” and “My Teenage Girls”.
He also hosted the first “MAMA”, the most popular awards ceremony of the moment.
Ahead of the two-day event, KGMA got K-pop fans excited by revealing its star-studded lineup, such as TVXQ, SHINee Taemin, EXO DO, DAY6, (G)I-DLE, NewJeans, aespa , RIIZE, BIBI and many others.
NewJeans Hanni will lead on the first day with Nam Ji Hyun, while on the second day, aespa Winter will join Nam.
When the full lineup was revealed, fans tilted their heads as to why HYBE artists were not participating except NewJeans, which is under ADOR.
Speculation has emerged in online communities that the reason may be due to his relationship with K-media, Daily Sports (Edaily M). The newspaper is among those that regularly write articles about HYBE and Bang Si Hyuk’s corruption.
KGMA is hosted by Daily Sports and will work with Hanteo Chart, Genie Music, Flo and Bugs and Fancast as the official fan voting company.
But surprisingly, despite HYBE’s exclusion from the program, K-pop stans are happier with the lineup.
Currently, the conglomerate is facing multiple controversies regarding Min Hee Jin and NewJeans’ bullying and sabotage of other artists through their internal dealings.
