My royal nemesis co-stars Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-joon offered a glimpse into their close working relationship in a newly released preview for Take the block quiz.
During the interview, Lim Ji-yeon explained that romantic comedies are highly dependent on the chemistry between the lead actors and strongly felt that both actors needed to show their strengths for the story to be successful. “In a romantic comedy, the charm of both actors has to shine through for the drama to work. Heo Nam-joon is a really charming actor and I really wanted this to be reflected well in the drama,” he shared.
Lim Ji-yeon went on to describe how lucky she felt to have found a co-star with whom she could communicate openly and comfortably. According to the actress, the demanding filming schedule and the pressure of taking on a leading role sometimes left her physically and emotionally exhausted. “There were many moments when the heavy responsibility and large amount of screen time left me feeling overwhelmed both mentally and physically,” he admitted.
Despite being the senior actor, Lim Ji-yeon said that Heo Nam-joon constantly helped lift her spirits during difficult times. “Every time I struggled, he encouraged me like a vitamin. Even though I’m older, I realized how much I relied on him. I often thought, ‘I’m so happy Cha Se-gye was played by Nam-joon.'” His comments highlighted the close bond the pair have developed working together.
Heo Nam-joon also spoke warmly about Lim Ji Yeon and their chemistry on set. The actor revealed that they often joked about who deserved credit for creating the positive atmosphere on set. “We always joke that everything worked because of one of us” he said with a laugh. However, Heo Nam-joon was quick to point out that much of the credit belongs to Lim Ji-yeon.
According to Heo Nam-joon, Lim Ji-yeon consistently maintained a positive attitude despite the challenging filming conditions. He praised her professionalism and kindness, noting that she rarely showed signs of tiredness even when exhausted due to long filming schedules. “No matter how tired she was or how little she slept, she always tried to smile and care for everyone around her.” The actor added that the comfortable and playful atmosphere on set would not have been possible without her willingness to engage with him and support their teamwork.
