The fans support him BLACKPINK‘S Jenny was unfairly “robbed” of a musical show.
Jennie recently released the single “Mantra” and has been promoting it in various ways. The idol also appeared in music shows in Korea, pre-recording his performance in advance.
Ahead of the October 19 edition of MBC‘S MusicCoreit looked like Jennie, aespa Karina’s “Up” e QWER“My Name Is Malgeum” would be the three songs for the nomination. A popular account known for analyzing music show scores shared a pre-show tally, showing that the top three have a wide margin of points from the next highest performer.
However, during the episode of MusicCorerather than Jennie being nominated, boy group AB6IX they were poised for victory, with Karina ultimately winning.
Fans have been wondering what could have happened, with the unconfirmed consensus being that since the music video for “Mantra” was the “explicit” version containing the word “ass”, points for SNS (aka views of music videos) have been removed.
It seems his MV was banned by MBC (when it came to other songs in Top 4~10, everyone used part of the MV for that song, but for JENNIE it was just his single cover) so he had no SNS points and that’s why it dropped to number 4 while AB6IX probably had a fairly high Broadcast point… pic.twitter.com/99ZlBxzDGN

Many fans were outraged by this alleged decision and called out MBC for allegedly snubbing Jennie. Many didn’t blame the boy group, but compared the lyrics of AB6IX’s “Mantra” and “NVCKED,” saying there was a misogynistic double standard at play.
