Taiwanese media reported that TWICE’s Tzuyu may be preparing for a new chapter in her career by ending her exclusive individual contract with JYP Entertainment and launching solo activities in Taiwan.
According to reports published on July 15 by Taiwanese media, including the China Times, several industry sources claim that Tzuyu is unlikely to renew her individual management contract with JYP. Instead, he is reportedly expected to pursue solo projects through Yuhai Entertainment, a Taiwanese agency founded by his parents.
Reports state that Yuhai Entertainment was founded in November 2025. The company is registered to operate in 22 business categories, including concert planning, music production and distribution, advertising and artist management. Its registered address is reportedly the same as a bar run by Tzuyu’s mother. Local media speculated that the company’s creation was intended to support Tzuyu’s future independent activities.
Further details fueled speculation. Earlier this month, Tzuyu performed solo at the Kaohsiung Beer Rock Festival in Taiwan. According to local reports, no manager from JYP Entertainment accompanied her to the event, and promotional materials introduced her by her birth name, Chou Tzuyu, rather than her birth name. “Tzuyu from TWICE.”
The media also revisited Tzuyu’s previous visit to Taiwan last year, during which she was reportedly seen meeting Chen Ze-shan, a veteran music producer and former head of Warner Music Greater China. Chen is also said to have attended Tzuyu’s recent event behind the scenes, suggesting it could play a role in her future solo career.
However, the reports remain based on anonymous industry sources. Neither JYP Entertainment nor Tzuyu have released an official statement regarding the claims.

Tzuyu has long been one of the most prominent figures in Taiwanese entertainment. In 2015, she became the center of controversy after appearing on a Korean TV program with the Taiwanese flag, which sparked accusations from some Chinese netizens that she supported Taiwanese independence. He later released a public apology video, an incident that attracted widespread attention and also had political implications in Taiwan.
The latest news has generated mixed reactions among fans. Many believe that Tzuyu may continue to balance solo activities with her commitments as a member of TWICE, while others stress that any conclusions should be reserved until an official announcement is made. Online comments include, “Can promote individually while staying with TWICE,” “I hope the group continues together” AND “It’s still just speculation, so we should wait for confirmation.”
