Actress Kwon Kyung Ha Reveals She Was G-Dragon’s Middle School Teacher: ‘He Was Great From The Start’

Actress Kwon Kyung Ha revealed that she was BIGBANG leader G-Dragon’s middle school teacher, recalling that the K-pop star showed extraordinary talent and charisma long before his debut.

On July 8, YouTube channel Lazy Rabbit uploaded a video titled “G-Dragon’s Middle School Teacher Reveals Young Kwon Ji Yong | Behind-the-Scenes Stories Shared for the First Time.”

Appearing as a guest, Kwon Kyung Ha surprised host Yoo Seung Min by revealing that she taught Kwon Ji Yong, now known worldwide as G-Dragon, from his first to third year at Seoul Gugak Arts Middle School (now National Traditional Arts Middle School), where she was his class teacher.

“He was already so talented and stood out even then,” Kwon recalled. “We also acted together in the comedy The Wedding Day, and he was an excellent actor.”

She explained that G-Dragon eventually transferred schools during his freshman year of high school because he needed to focus more on his entertainment pursuits.

“Every time I see G-Dragon on television, I feel proud,” she said. “I have my special memories because I met him when he was very young. Already in the first year of middle school he was very talented and was clearly different from everyone else.”

According to Kwon, the future idol already acted like G-Dragon rather than just being a normal student named Kwon Ji Yong.

“Many people may not know this, but G-Dragon was already very famous at the time,” he said.

He also recalled that G-Dragon regularly performed at school events.

“Whenever the school held an event, G-Dragon was always on stage dancing,” Kwon said. “There was another student who often came with him, and I think it was Taeyang. They attended the school’s shows every year for all three years.”

Kwon also remembered G-Dragon’s role as Samdol in Wedding Day.

“He played the character with incredible energy and charm,” he said. “Even back then, his fashion sense was exceptional. From an early age you knew he was destined to be a star.”

He added that G-Dragon’s mother’s unwavering support played a significant role in helping him become the artist he is today.

Concluding the interview, Kwon sent a heartfelt message to his former student.

“Ji Yong, I am so happy to see the amazing person you have become,” he said. “It’s been so long since we last met, but I’ve always rooted for you. I hope that one day we have the opportunity to reunite with your fellow alumni.”
