Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway recently appeared Popcastsa podcast hosted by The New York Times, in which he candidly discussed the condition that affected his vision for much of his 30s.
During the interview, Hathaway admitted: “This might be too much information, but I was half blind for 10 years.”
According to Hathaway, the cataract severely affected her vision and left her unable to see properly out of her left eye for years. He explained: “It affected my vision greatly. My left eye was practically blind and I ended up having surgery.”
The actress added that she initially didn’t realize how much stress the condition had placed on her nervous system until after the operation.
After the surgery, Hathaway shared that her condition stabilized and improved significantly.
Hathaway’s health confession comes shortly after she addressed ongoing speculation about alleged facelift procedures.
Earlier this month, ELLE Magazine published a new interview and photoshoot with the actress. Ahead of the interview, Hathaway posted a video on social media showing a hairstyling technique used to create a lifted facial appearance.
The method involved tightly braiding the sections near the temples and pinning them back – a styling trick that sparked online rumors that the actress had undergone cosmetic surgery.
Speaking about the rumors, Hathaway explained: “We live in an age where people believe their assumptions are facts. Sometimes they’re right, sometimes they’re not.”
He also revealed that he generally prefers to avoid public explanations and maintain a more private image.
“I usually prefer to live in silence with some mystery instead of drawing attention to myself. But the speculation got so big that I felt I had to explain the truth.”
The actress clarified that her changes in appearance were simply due to hairstyling techniques rather than any major cosmetic procedures.
However, Hathaway added wryly: “I might actually get a facelift someday.”
After the interview, many fans praised Hathaway for openly discussing both her medical struggles and the pressure celebrities face regarding appearance rumors.
The actress has long been admired for her outspoken personality and willingness to speak honestly about aging, beauty standards and life in Hollywood.
