On April 6, Mark posted a message via fan communication platform Bubble, saying: “I really wanted to talk first in person, but it wasn’t something I could decide on my own… You must have been very surprised, right?”
He continued, “It must have been a hectic and difficult weekend, and now it’s already Monday. We have to hold on…” adding, “I’ll be back soon. I’m sorry and thank you. Let’s spend Monday together” expressing his affection towards the fans.
On the same day, Bubble service provider Lysn announced that Mark’s Bubble service will officially end at 10am on April 20.
The message attracted attention as it marked Mark’s first direct communication with fans since his departure NCT. Although she had previously shared a handwritten letter on social media, Bubble, being a paid platform used primarily by devoted fans, carried more emotional weight.
However, reactions to his message were particularly cold among some fans.
The criticism came in, with comments like “It would have been better if he hadn’t sent anything” “He should know the vibe of the fandom that seems out of tune,” “Was it just to feel better?” “It doesn’t seem sincere” AND “As a longtime fan, I feel disappointed. This is not what fans were waiting for.”

Previously, Mark was seen looking gloomy during a recent NCT dream concert, even shedding tears along with the members, which raised concerns among fans. Speculation followed until his departure was officially confirmed.
Many believe the lukewarm response stemmed from fans expecting a more honest and detailed message that included a direct apology and a clearer request for support moving forward. Critics argue that his Bubble message failed to fully convey that level of sincerity.
Some fans, however, defended him by saying: “He already said it all in his handwritten letter,” “He would have been criticized anyway” “What’s the problem?” AND “It seems like it was short because he was careful.”

News of Mark’s contract termination with SM Entertainment and his exit from NCT it was announced on April 3.
SM Entertainment said: “We have mutually agreed to conclude our exclusive contract with Mark starting April 8,” confirming with everyone the end of his activities NCT unit, included NCT 127 AND NCT dream.
In his previous handwritten letter, Mark shared: “I have had many conversations with members about this decision and each and every one of them has supported me. I am so grateful it makes me cry and feel sorry for my life. Thank you and I love the members who have shared this journey with me.”
