ADOR and NewJeans may face investigations following fandom complaints

On November 18, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and ADOR confirmed that the Minister’s office received a large number of faxed complaints from fans regarding NewJeans during November 16 and 17.

The fan group called for an official investigation into allegations that ADOR negatively affected public image New Jeans members. In addition to sending faxes to the Ministry, fans also lodged complaints with members of the National Assembly’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Commission.

Officials said the ministry will notify the ADOR of complaints and adjust related programs accordingly. Since these are official complaints, the Ministry is obliged to investigate both ADOR and New Jeans members. However, details regarding the scope, level and process of the investigation have not yet been determined.

An industry insider commented: “Both parties have just begun reconciliation, but some fans are sending complaints based on unverified claims. This could potentially increase tensions between ADOR and New Jeans. Fans must consider whether their actions truly benefit the artists they support before taking such steps.”

The situation highlights the growing influence of fandom in K-pop and the delicate balance between fan advocacy and official procedures.
