Girls’ Generation’s Yuri agitated by the mention of ex-boyfriend Oh Seung-hwan on the broadcast

On the October 17 episode of the TVING variety show Fan area 2 (찐팬구역2), Yuri appeared together with actress Song Sang-eun to support the first round of the 2025 KBO postseason match between the Hanwha Eagles and the Samsung Lions. The show, co-hosted by retired baseball player Kim Tae-kyun, was intended to highlight the enthusiasm of true baseball fans. However, the mood changed when Kim made a pointed remark directed at Yuri.

Before the game began, Kim asked Yuri: “How do you feel about facing our Samsung team?” The question immediately gained attention as Yuri briefly dated Samsung Lions pitcher Oh Seung-hwan for six months in 2015. Oh has since gotten married in 2022 and is now a father.

Taken by surprise, Yuri managed a smile and replied, “Of course… it’s fun. It’s thrilling. Are we actually facing each other? Almost like it was planned.” However, Kim didn’t stop there. He further added, “I also attended his retirement ceremony,” referring to Oh Seung-hwan, which left Yuri visibly flustered. He placed a hand uncomfortably on his forehead, showing clear signs of discomfort.

The moment sparked swift reactions online. While some found the exchange funny, many viewers criticized Kim Tae-kyun’s comments as disrespectful and unnecessarily invasive.

“It’s been 10 years and he’s married now. Why bring this up?”
“Totally inappropriate,”
“It was clearly intentional” read some of the most important comments.

Others defended Yuri, noting that she handled the situation gracefully despite being cornered.

Yuri recently starred in The Art of JTBC Negotiation (The Art of Negotiation), concluded in April 2025.
