In an Instagram update late at the night of August 1, Boa published an image side by side by comparing an authentic Labubu with a false suspicion. His caption? “If it is a knockoff, assume responsibility.“
The post spread immediately among the online communities, triggering a heated discussion. While many sympathized for the frustration of Boa, others underlined the shocking similarity between the figures. The Netizen commented:
“It is actually well done for a fake”,
“The more expensive the object, the more detailed is the counterfeit. Lee Young Ji was obviously false, but this seems real”,
“Apparently, the QR of the renewal version does not scan directly”,
“I bought mine from the official shop and the location of the ear seems so”,
“Maybe he bought it as a gift for the desire for NCT”,
“If it is a version of renewal, you have to scan it with a special QR app to verify it.”
Although it is not yet confirmed if the figure in question is truly counterfeit, the growing uncertainty reflects a greater problem in the collector’s community: fake identifying are becoming increasingly difficult, even for expert fans.
Previously, Btob Sungjae found a similar problem during a live snoxing, discovering his labubu was missing from key characteristics. Illit’s member won his frustration saying: “I have been scammed. I bought it in person and I am still deceived.”
Meanwhile, Lee Young Ji has not declared that his version was false and invited the followers to buy only from the official sellers.
