The 23 -month -old boy dies after being left at home alone while the parents played on the Café PC

According to the Gyeongggi Northern Provincial Police Agency Agency and Unit Investigation Unit, the couple – identified only as Mr. A and Ms. B, both of 30 years – has been deferred to the accusation on charges of negligence of children pursuant to the well -being on the well -being of minors.

The tragic events took place in the early hours of February 20, when the couple left their son alone in their apartment in Pyeongnae-Dong around 22:00 the night before. Instead of being at home to take care of the child, the couple went to a Café PC nearby and spent the night play.

Incredibly, during their game session, the parents used a home surveillance camera to check -in on their son and according to what reported they noticed signs that something was wrong. They rushed home and called the emergency services immediately after discovering that the son was dead.

The authorities have started an investigation, including an autopsy, to determine the cause of death and if it were directly linked to the fact that the child is left alone. However, the results of the autopsy have returned as a “cause of unknown death”, leaving the police unable to establish direct causality between the child’s death and abandonment.

A police officer said, “We conducted an investigation based on the circumstances before and after the accident, as well as the autopsy, but no direct causality was identified between death and abandonment. Therefore, only the accusation of abandonment has been applied.”

Despite the lack of a confirmed cause of death, public indignation intensified on the actions of parents, arousing renewed requests for more severe laws and application of the well -being and negligence of minors. The case has now been forwarded to the accusation, which will determine the next steps of the legal trial.
