On April 15, a video of welcome serial number was loaded on the official YouTube channel of the Media Department and the acting of the University of Konkuk. The video, which congratulates the incoming class of 2025, includes final credits that list participating students. Among these is Kim Garam, known as a member of the director’s team who confirms his involvement behind the scenes in the project.
Kim Garam was hospitalized at the University of Konkuk last year after graduating from Soul Performing Arts High School. His quiet return has aroused attention online, as he marks a rare look at his current life after his departure highly advertised by the K-pop industry.
Kim Garam made his debut in 2022 as a member of Le Sserafim under Source Music, a label managed by Hybe. However, just before and after the group’s debut, more accusations emerged by accusing it of school violence during his middle school years. The agency initially denied requests, calling them “Distorted and missed well “and threatened a legal action.
Despite their defense, the public backlash has become stronger. According to the legal representatives of the alleged victim, the denial of music of origin on the accident of bullying caused the victim a serious psychological distress, which requires psychiatric treatment.
In an important development, it was subsequently confirmed that Kim Garam had been subject to a disciplinary sentence by a committee for school violence in 2018. The Committee ordered her and her parents to complete a compulsory special education program. The alleged victim, in turn, was granted protective advice pursuant to the law on the prevention of school violence.
While the controversy intensified, Kim Garam stopped all the activities. Only two months after the debut of Le Sserafim, he finished his exclusive contract with Source Music and officially left the group.
Since then, Kim Garam has lived a quiet student life. His recent apparition in the university video suggests that he is pursuing a new path in the media and in the production behind the scenes.
In the meantime, Sserafim has continued their career as a group of five members and recently returned with their fifth mini-album “HEAT.“
