In a recent interview with Billboard, IU discussed her upcoming drama and music projects for 2025.
IU shared: ““When Life Gives You Mandarins” is a drama in which the entire crew worked incredibly hard and gave their all. I am excited to promote this project.”
Set on Jeju Island in the 1950s, the film explores the adventurous and daring lives of two individuals born and raised on the island. IU takes on the role of Ae Sun, a bold, rebellious and intelligent girl who refuses to succumb to adversity, always fighting against the fate imposed on her. Park Bo Gum plays Gwan Sik, a quiet but resolute young man who has a pure and deep love for Ae Sun.
IU emphasized that this is not her only plan for 2025. She revealed: “I will also be the protagonist of another work with a completely different atmosphere: seductive and fun. Although I focused on acting throughout the year, I also started working on new musical projects. Fans won’t have to wait long to enjoy something fresh.“
With outstanding achievements in both music and acting, IU has earned the title of “Nation’s Little Sister” and was recently named Korea’s representative for the No. 1 Artist Series. 1 worldwide on Billboard. Reflecting on this recognition, he expressed his gratitude: “It seems so special. I feel like I’m dreaming – it’s hard to believe it’s real.“
This year, IU achieved huge success with her song “Love Wins All,” which topped Melon’s weekly chart for four consecutive weeks and remained at No. 1 on the monthly chart in February. He also completed a world tour that attracted 500,000 attendees.
