NewJeans donates 100 million won to children on behalf of fans amid discord with ADOR

Although members of HYBE’s NewJeans are in the midst of legal troubles regarding their contract with the agency, the discord hasn’t stopped the girls from returning to those less fortunate.

The girls, who are currently promoting under their own name rather than the group’s name, reportedly donated 100 million won (about $70,000) to the Green Umbrella child welfare fund under ChildFund Korea, which supports children and young adults who they care for family members in need due to old age, disability or illness, as reported by OSEN.

The generous donation was made under Bunnies, the name of their fandom.

The funds will support 30 families with living, housing, education and healthcare costs.

The girls’ donation will be used to help children through adulthood with career development services and employment opportunities.

“We decided to make this donation to provide essential support for the healthy growth of children and adolescents who care for their families and to help them become independent,” said Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein.

“We will continue to show our interest in children finding and realizing their dreams.”

“We hope that this support will greatly help children and adolescents who take care of their families to reduce their daily burdens and gain time for personal growth and independence,” said Shin Jung Won, head of the Division of cooperation on social contributions at ChildFund Korea.

“We will continue to provide various forms of support so that more and more children can grow up surrounded by warmth and support.”
