EXO’s “First Snow” re-enters major Korean music charts as K-Netz welcomes winter

EXO, Korea’s so-called “Mariah Carey”, is back! As Koreans commemorate the start of the winter season, the boy band’s winter song “First Snow” has once again risen to major Korean music charts.

On November 27, South Korea finally saw its first snow, marking the official start of a white Christmas!

On the same day, “K-pop representative songs” were played to celebrate the special day, including EXO’s “First Snow”, released in 2013.

“First Snow” is a track from EXO’s second EP and special Christmas album, “Miracles in December,” which often goes viral as South Korea awaits the Christmas season. In 2023, the song became a trending dance challenge among K-pop idols and TikTokers as they admired the first snowfall.

As more people embrace the season, the song has jumped to the top spot as the most searched for in MelOn’s real-time search. From being outside the top 50 and 100 of the major Korean music charts, “First Snow” quickly climbed the ranks on Flo, Genie and Bugs.

According to the latest charts (8 a.m. KST), the song was ranked No. 12 on Bugs, No. 16 on Genie and No. 36 on Flo.

On MelOn it notably ranked first, re-entering the top 10 of the Top 100 chart. It has now become the fastest song to re-enter the Korean music charts, even faster than Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” .

What made this feat even more precious is that the first snow fell on the birthday of one of EXO’s beloved members, Chanyeol!
