Reportedly on June 22, the Netflix Original series The Trauma Code: Heroes on the Call The next episode is scheduled to begin filming in October.
The production team is reportedly planning to develop seasons 2 and 3 at the same time. The second season will consist of eight episodes and the scripts for the first four episodes have already been completed.
The Trauma Code: Heroes on the Call follows the story of genius trauma surgeon Baek Kang Hyuk, a former battlefield medic tasked with reviving a struggling and largely ineffective trauma center. The series combines intense medical emergencies with compelling character-driven storytelling.
The upcoming season will expand the story by following Baek Kang Hyuk as he travels to trauma centers located in regional areas of the country, where new challenges and medical crises await him.
The main cast from season 1 will return, including Ju Ji Hoon, Choo Young Woo, Ha Young and Yoon Kyung Ho. New characters are also expected to appear in individual episodes, bringing new storylines to the drama.
When The Trauma Code: Heroes on the Call premiered in January 2025, it immediately became a phenomenon. The series rose to number one on Netflix Korea’s “Top 10 Series Today” and remained at the top for 22 consecutive days.
The drama’s popularity extended far beyond South Korea. During the January 2025 fifth week ranking period, Netflix secured the top spot in the platform’s global non-English TV category. Within just three weeks of release, it had already become the seventh most successful Korean Netflix original drama in terms of viewership performance.
The series also had significant success during awards season. Ju Ji Hoon won Best Actor at both the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Blue Dragon Series Awards.
In the meantime, The Trauma Code: Heroes on the Call itself took home awards for Best Drama at the Blue Dragon Series Awards and the Seoul International Drama Awards, further cementing its status as one of the most acclaimed Korean dramas in recent years.
