On May 23, lawyer Go Sang-rok said via social media that Kim Soo-hyun “he is simply a victim of a crime” and he underlined it the actor is not an equal party engaged in a public controversy with the suspects involved in the criminal investigation.
The lawyer explained it Kim Soo-hyun’s side has intentionally avoided responding to every allegation repeatedly raised onlinesaying they intend to continue this approach moving forward. He added it after a lengthy investigation confirmed the existence of the victimization, the company should now allow the actor to “return to his original place.”
According to the statement, the responsibility for uncovering crimes, punishing perpetrators and protecting victims lies with the state, while society should help victims recover and return to daily life as quickly as possible.
The latest comments come after the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office reportedly requested an arrest warrant on May 20 for Kim Se-ui on charges related to distribution of illegal materials under South Korea’s sexual assault laws.

After Kim Sae-ron’s death in February 2025, Garo Sero Institute and her grieving family held broadcasts and press conferences claiming that Kim Soo-hyun had had a six-year relationship with the actress starting when she was still in middle school. They posted screenshots of alleged KakaoTalk conversations, audio recordings and private photos as supporting evidence.
Kim Soo-hyun personally addressed the controversy during a press conference on March 31, strongly denying claims that he dated Kim Sae-ron while she was underage. He also supported it some of the evidence presented by the family had been manipulated or fabricated.
