According to reports on June 7, Cha Jun Hwan has been confirmed to star in tvN’s upcoming sitcom Palace landmarking his first major acting role in 17 years.
In the series, Cha will play Sung Dae Han, a charming but hilariously flawed character who appears perfect on the outside but struggles with daily survival behind the scenes. Blessed with good looks, Sung Dae Han is overly confident and often relies on his looks to get by, despite being somewhat clumsy and clumsy. Known for his soft-spoken personality and natural popularity, the character may seem immature and carefree at first glance, but hides a surprisingly caring side beneath the surface.
Palace land tells the story of people whose lives appear glamorous on the outside but are far from perfect behind closed doors. Set in an amusement park, the sitcom follows the daily lives of ordinary part-time workers who live together in dormitories, blending humor and touching moments.
Before fully dedicating himself to figure skating, Cha worked for a short time as a child actor, believing that acting experience could help him with performance skills on the ice. He appeared in the 2006 MBC drama special Miracle and played the younger version of actor Park Ki Woong’s character in the 2008 drama Night after night. He especially gained attention in 2009 for playing the younger version of Jung Il Woo’s character Iljimae’s return.
Last year, while appearing on JTBC Getting to know the brothersCha was asked if he would consider returning to acting after retirement. At that time, he shared, “I changed my path after working as a child actor, so I feel there is still something unfinished. If I have the opportunity one day after I retire, I would like to challenge myself as an actor again.”
