On April 26, a video titled “After hearing just a few words, you really should be on more talk shows” was uploaded to the YouTube channel Fairy Jaehyung. The episode featured Ahn Hyo Seop as a guest, where she talked about her unexpected career turn.
During the conversation, host Jung Jae Hyung brought up the interesting story, saying that Ahn has moved on to KPop Demon Hunters thanks to his acting in English Commercial proposal.
In response, Ahn shared, “That’s when I realized that you really have to give your all in everything. You never know where the opportunities will come from.” He explained that at the time he simply spoke the lines in English because they were written in the script, without thinking much further.
He continued, “Director Maggie Kang auditioned a lot for the voice role of Jinu. They had trouble finding the right voice, and then she happened to look Commercial proposal and she liked what she saw.” He added honestly, “I didn’t expect it to go so well. Of course, I thought the project was fun, but still… it made me realize that I had to approach everything with humility and dedication.”
Jung Jae Hyung also noted how fitting the opportunity seemed, given Ahn Hyo Seop’s background as a trainee at JYP Entertainment. In KPop Demon HuntersAhn voices Jinu, the leader of an idol group within the story, which made the casting even more natural. “It feels like your entire universe is connected” Jung commented, expressing amazement.
Ahn agreed, saying: “Everything is really connected. All the efforts and experiences I’ve had have turned out to be as meaningful as I thought they would be.”
He also shared his feelings about attending the Oscars as part of the project. “Since I was just a voice actor, I honestly felt a little overwhelmed,” he admitted. “The night before, while I was taking a shower, my heart suddenly started pounding, even though I wasn’t the one receiving the prize.”
However, he described that nervousness as something he appreciated. “I felt grateful for that feeling. I thought, ‘When will I ever experience something like this again?’ So I told myself to really enjoy that moment the next day,” he said.
Through this unexpected journey, Ahn Hyo Seop’s story highlights how even small efforts, like writing a few lines in a different language, can open doors to global opportunities.
