On the evening of November 11, BLACKPINK’s Lisa kicked off her Asia-wide fan meeting tour in Singapore. Previously, the organizers of the Singapore event had announced a full house shortly before the event.
During the fan meeting, which felt more like a mini-concert, Lisa performed all of her solo hits and interacted with fans through games and conversations. However, one particular image displayed on the VCR right before his performance of “ROCKSTAR” has become the center of debate.
Notably, prior to the performance of “ROCKSTAR,” a VCR (a video clip played during the intervals between songs) was shown on the LED screen, containing previously unseen footage of Lisa promoting her ROCKSTAR stage. In the video, Lisa is shown in a mystical setting with a striking ponytail and a fierce “rock star expression.” She wore a dress that was modestly cut on the front but had bold cutouts on the sides, which highlighted her curves, height and perfect body proportions.
So far, the outfit has sparked controversy, with some viewers criticizing it as overly revealing and inappropriate. Images from the video, now circulating widely on social media, have also led to comparisons to Lisa’s performance at the Crazy Horse cabaret due to the boldness of her outfit. Furthermore, due to the presence of young fans at the fan meeting, some found the outfit unsuitable for the event.
On the other hand, some claimed that this bold cropped style was a popular trend in 2016 and added that many artists had worn similar outfits. Since the outfit was shown on a VCR, not on stage, it was considered acceptable by some fans. Others pointed out that it was a fan-oriented event, and most of the criticism came from anti-fans, in stark contrast to BLACKPINK fans’ enthusiastic reactions at the event.
