EDAM Entertainment has released an official statement, declaring the agency’s willingness to take legal action against harmful comments aimed at IU.
On November 11, EDAM Entertainment uploaded two statements written in English and Korean. According to the statements, the agency shared updates on legal proceedings against people who participated in harmful or harmful activities against the singer.
In addition to IU, the agency also mentioned IU’s labelmate WOODZ. Thanks to the company’s cooperation with the law firm Shinwon LLC, complaints have been found, and criminal acts such as insults, defamation, unfounded plagiarism accusations, sexual harassment and distribution of obscene materials must be punished by law.
The statement also revealed that approximately 180 people “have been named as defendants” and that further complaints are pending.
“The Company (EDAM), in collaboration with the Studio, will continue to take strong legal action to protect the honor and personal rights of the Artists.”
EDAM also revealed that it will continue to monitor evidence of illegal acts coming from news portals and online communities.
“The Company calls on online platform operators and community members, nationally and internationally, to treat these matters with the utmost seriousness and to cooperate with law enforcement in the ongoing investigations.”
EDAM continued: “The Company selected the most serious illegal acts and proceeded with criminal charges according to the principle of zero tolerance, aiming for severe punishment without any leniency.”
