Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon is in trouble for a statement she made in the latest episode of her YouTube show “Hyo’s Level Up.”
On November 6, NCT Dream members Jeno, Haechan, and Jisung appeared on Hyoyeon’s show, where they talked about various topics and shared a meal together.
As the video reached the 6:58 mark, Hyoyeon proudly said, “DREAM is SM’s first million seller. Double million seller. Record holder for triple million seller. Isn’t that amazing?”
Jisung, sitting across from her, was seen clapping his hands lightly, visibly flattered by the praise. Jeno and Haechan also nodded slightly, as if in gratitude for the compliment.
Unfortunately, after the episode aired, EXO-L took to social media to express their disappointment with Hyoyeon’s statement.
EXO-L, who EXO members also affectionately address as Eris, denounced the SNSD singer’s false claim that NCT Dream is SM Entertainment’s first, double and triple million sellers.
They called for his statement to be corrected, with a plethora of Eris releasing evidence of EXO’s achievements.
Some fans have also accused the agency of slowly trying to erase EXO’s achievements and legacy.
A certain Eris wrote on X: “EXO’s cancellation is crazy, especially when the Korean government itself recognized them as the first quadruple million sellers and gave them medals.”
“Trying to erase EXO’s successes and attribute them to another group shows your disrespect and stupidity,” another fan said, adding, “but neither you nor anyone else can erase history. EXO is the first group to sell a million copies.”
One EXO-L also said, “Trying to erase EXO’s achievements is madness. Free my boys from these bad people.”
Following the backlash, Hyoyeon issued an apology under the video and eventually corrected the captions.
