SM Entertainment recently unveiled its album release and concert schedule for the first quarter of 2025, and the company’s plans have sparked quite a conversation online. Fans were excited by announcements of upcoming releases from beloved artists, but some planned activities also sparked controversy.
The calendar revealed it NCT‘S Sign AND Ten, ESO‘S KaiAND Red Velvet‘S Seulgi are among the artists ready to release new albums, from mini-albums to full versions. Furthermore, Generation of girls‘S Hyoyeon AND Desire NCT will make their return, as SM’s highly anticipated new girl group is finally getting closer to its debut.

However, some announcements did not go down well with fans. Lucais the virtual soloist’s upcoming release and mini album Naivein particular, they elicited mixed responses.
Lucas, who has been under scrutiny since the 2021 scandal, continues to be a controversial figure. Fans expressed disappointment with SM’s decision to include him in the program, questioning the company’s decision to continue managing the star.
Meanwhile, Naevis is set to release a mini-album, which has led some fans to question SM’s priorities due to its virtual nature. Many argue that the company should focus its resources on the human artists within the SM roster, who, in their opinion, deserve more attention and opportunities.
Red Velvet fans, in particular, have been vocal, especially regarding the lack of solo activity for members Yeri and Joy. While Wendy and soon Seulgi are ready to release their second solo project, fans feel that Yeri had to wait too long for her official solo debut. There is also growing anticipation for a second Joy comeback, adding to the frustration of fans who feel these artists should be prioritized over virtual talent.
