After 10 years since her debut, Red Velvet Irene will finally debut as a solo artist! With the initial release of details about his album, how are K-pop fans reacting?
On November 4, SM Entertainment, Irene’s label, confirmed in an official announcement that the “OG visual” and leader of Red Velvet will begin her solo career.
Irene’s mini-album, “Like A Flower”, will contain a total of 8 songs with a self-titled track. The album will be the member’s first solo album in a decade, drawing attention to what genres he will showcase on this release.
Since entering the K-pop scene in 2014, Irene has distinguished herself as Red Velvet’s main visual and vocalist of the sub-unit, Irene & Seulgi. Through this, she will be able to demonstrate her solid voice and skills worthy of a principal dancer who was not able to show off more while in a group due to the limited line and part distribution.
On the same day, the company released a teaser image, a comic-book-like illustration that appears to represent traditional images of Irene. It further increased fans’ curiosity about the idol’s solo debut that everyone was eagerly waiting for.
Irene’s first solo album “Like A Flower” is available for pre-order starting today (November 4) at various online and offline music stores.
Meanwhile, netters in online communities also show great anticipation for this album, and so far most of the comments have been positive.
