The 5 Scariest Sasaeng Moments Experienced by K-Pop Idols

What’s scarier than Halloween? These K-pop idols will most likely answer “sasaeng”. After all, they have experienced the most terrifying incidents from these so-called “fans”.

In popular culture, a “sasaeng” is referred to as an “obsessive fan”, who would go so far as to stalk and threaten their favorite idols to get their attention.

Some of their disturbing acts include stealing artists’ personal contacts, following them to their hotels, and traveling on the same planes as their maxims.

However, these ridiculous actions have become dangerous and it is worth sending them to prison for crossing the line by harming their idols.

TVXQ Yunho almost died from “fan gifted” juice.

From Changmin’s taxi driver to Jaejoong’s house invaded by a fan: TVXQ is a group with the most famous sasaengs in the history of K-pop.

Among the many accidents he suffered, Yunho had the most petrifying encounter with an anti-fan, a sasaeng from another group. During an event, the K-pop icon received an orange juice as a gift and drank it.

He didn’t know that he was poisoned with super glue, which led to him being hospitalized and having trauma from drinking juice for a while.

In 2000, Baby VOX actress-turned-Yoon Eun Hye went nearly blind when a male sasaeng attacked her with a water gun filled with vinegar, soy sauce and (allegedly) chili peppers.

She was rushed to hospital and the doctor told her she had a cornea problem.

The frustrating part? The anti-fan was able to walk free and received no punishment as Eun Hye kindly decided not to report the matter to the police.

SNSD Taeyeon kidnapping attempt

In 2011, Girls’ Generation was performing on stage when a man suddenly approached and forcibly grabbed Taeyeon. While she resisted, the sasaeng managed to drag her up the stairs.

Luckily, Sunny bravely held Taeyeon back until comedian Oh Jung Tae and the authorities arrived to stop the man.

Like Eun Hye, the SNSD leader also did not press charges.

TWICE Nayeon threatened and persecuted by the delusional Sasaeng

Another idol with the scariest moment with a sasaeng was Nayeon.

Infamous for his alias Josh, he claimed not to be a fan but the TWICE member’s “boyfriend”. He would follow the star to airports and dormitories and wait for her outside JYP Entertainment.

When the label took action against him, he returned to Germany but continued to threaten Nayeon that he would kill her if she dated another guy other than him.

BTS’ Jin Amost was injected by an unauthorized nurse

The most recent spine-chilling event in the K-pop scene happened to BTS Jin when he was vaccinated by an unauthorized nurse in the army in 2023.

The nurse, apparently a fan of Jin, was originally stationed in the 28th Division, but purposely left her unit and traveled 30 minutes to sneak into the 5th Division’s training center in Yeoncheon-gun, where Jin was staying .

There, she was caught illegally administering a secondary hemorrhagic fever vaccine to Jin.
