Termination of contract with Taeil announced

On October 16, SM Entertainment officially announced the termination of NCT’s Taeil’s contract. The agency released a statement confirming the termination of the contract, marking Taeil’s formal exit from the company.

“We would like to inform you of this our exclusive contract with Taeil has been terminated effective October 15, 2024“, reads the statement.

“Taeil is currently under investigation by the prosecutor’s office for a criminal case. This not only constitutes grounds for termination of our contract, but also makes it impossible to maintain trust in him as an artist. As a result, both parties have mutually agreed to terminate the contract,” he continued.

We sincerely apologize once again for any concern caused by Taeil, who was previously one of our artists“, concludes the statement.

The news of his exit from the group, along with the ongoing investigation, has left many fans and the general public concerned and awaiting more information on the outcome of the legal proceedings.

Earlier this month, SM Entertainment addressed the controversy surrounding Taeil after reports surfaced that she was involved in a serious legal investigation. Taeil is currently under investigation on suspicion of sexual assault, with further charges of aggravated quasi-rape involving an intoxicated woman. The case is reportedly about Taeil and two acquaintances and it was well followed by the public.

The investigations began at Bangbae Police Station in Seouland in September the case was transferred to Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings. This development has sparked significant public concern, leading to SM Entertainment’s decision to terminate the contract with the former NCT member while the lawsuit continues.
