Netizens are pissed.
MOVES were recently criticized for their alleged mishandling of BTS Jungkook’s invitation to perform at the 2024 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show. The New Yorker magazine reported on October 7, 2024 that a remix of “Standing Next To You” was created in collaboration with Usherand Jungkook was invited to perform alongside Usher at the halftime show. Although the show took place in February 2024, Jungkook had to decline due to his enlistment in December 2023. Fans are very disappointed; they believe his service could have been delayed to accommodate this opportunity. Being born in 1997, he had the opportunity several times to postpone his service until he turned 30.
After the incident blew up, fans recalled how his performance at the FIFA World Cup left. Jungkook traveled to Qatar to perform solo in 2023. During his travels there, Jungkook shared that he wasn’t aware that he would be performing solo. He had thought it was a group program since the company had not communicated well with him.
At first I wondered what was going on. When I asked, they simply said I should perform the opening song. So I thought that all the members would play something together at the World Cup. But later I found out that I would be performing alone.

A FIFA representative also said they were having difficulty getting in touch with Jungkook’s team. It was only after contacting HYBE’s Korean headquarters as well as the US branch BigHit music and other branches, who were able to invite Jungkook to perform. Netizens have heavily criticized HYBE for their shoddy work.
