BIGBANG’s G-Dragon delivered a message about protecting world heritage and creating peace for future generations during the opening ceremony of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Busan.
The singer attended the 48th session of the opening ceremony of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee at BEXCO in Busan on July 19 as an official promotional ambassador.
During his speech, G-Dragon emphasized that preserving heritage is not only about protecting history but also about building a more peaceful future.
G-Dragon thanked UNESCO for its long efforts to protect precious cultural sites around the world. According to AllKPop, he also praised Busan, describing the city as a place that has transformed its painful history of war into a symbol of peace and hope.
“Preserving heritage is not simply preserving the past but creating peace for the future,” said G-Dragon. He added that art can become a powerful tool for protecting world heritage because it can move people’s hearts and inspire change.

The artist also shared his hope to help protect heritage sites threatened by challenges such as war and climate change. He explained that even small efforts can become significant when people around the world work together.
“I hope to contribute even in a small way to the protection of the world’s heritage threatened by war and the climate crisis,” said G-Dragon. He added that he hopes the message started in Busan can become a bond of peace that reaches people around the world, The Chosun reported.
During the ceremony, G-Dragon also highlighted the significance of holding the event in Busan. The city is home to the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, the only UN memorial park of its kind in the world, making it a significant location for discussions on peace and heritage protection.

The 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee is the first time the event has been held in South Korea.
G-Dragon was recently appointed by the Korea Heritage Service as the committee’s official promotional ambassador.
