On July 15, JYP Entertainment released the introductory film “ERROR 502: Invalid gateway” via the company’s official social media channels. The film marks the first time the agency has revealed the actual members of OURBIRTHDAY, following previous teasers that focused solely on token characters and the group’s overall concept.
Borrowing the title from the Internet error code “502 Bad Gateway”the introductory film features a mysterious narrative centered on communication failure and disconnection.
In the video, the members wander into an unknown space after becoming trapped in a world seemingly affected by a system error. As they search for answers, they gradually discover each other, creating an emotional and cinematic atmosphere, enriched by understated narration and striking images. The film emphasizes mystery over dialogue, inviting viewers to interpret the symbolism behind the group’s emerging plot.
One of the most memorable moments in the video shows the members gathering around a cake on which the words are displayed “OUR BIRTHDAY”. Together, they blow out the candles before the monitor in front of them suddenly turns back on, suggesting that the group’s story is only just beginning.
The symbolic ending has fueled speculation among fans that the film serves as the opening chapter of a larger fictional universe that will continue through future musical releases.
OURBIRTHDAY is JYP Entertainment’s first girl group since NMIXX, which debuted in 2022. Before revealing the members, the company introduced three mysterious character-based teasers, signaling that the rookie group would debut with a distinctive concept rather than a conventional introduction. The latest film finally shifts the focus from fictional images to the members themselves.
